Terms of use

Trivball is an independent fan project. It’s not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ESPN, the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, any soccer league or competition, or any team, athlete, or governing body. All team names, team logos, league names and player images belong to their owners. We use them only to identify teams and players and to talk about them in a non-commercial trivia game. If you own the rights to something shown here and want it removed, we’ll take it down. Just get in touch.

It’s a free game, for fun and for learning. There are no accounts, no payments and nothing for sale. Player stats, headshots and team logos come from public sources including ESPN, so they can be incomplete, late or wrong. Don’t rely on anything here as an official record.

Play it, share it and enjoy it. Please don’t try to break it, overload it, scrape it in bulk, resell access to it, or use it for anything unlawful. In party mode you pick your own nickname, so keep it civil. Other players in your room can see it, and you’re responsible for what you type.

Nicknames, Trick Play answers and Sideline Call clues are the only things anyone can type for others to see, and only people with the code can get into a room. If someone in yours types something they shouldn’t have, the host can remove them from the room at any time from the player list on the host screen. If something needs reporting beyond that, we’ll handle it. Just get in touch.

Everything on Trivball that isn’t someone else’s is original work and belongs to the person who made it. That includes the source code, the design, the writing, the game formats and rules, the icons and the share cards. You’re welcome to play the games, screenshot them, stream them and write about them. That doesn’t cover copying the site’s code or remaking its games as your own product. All rights not given here are reserved.

Anyone can play, and there’s nothing to sign up for. If you’re under 18, that’s fine. Just check with a parent or guardian before you use the party features, because other people in the room can see the nickname you pick.

If someone breaks the rules above, for example by overloading the site, scraping it in bulk or using party mode to abuse other players, we can block their access, close a room, or stop them using the site, without notice. Hosts can already remove anyone from their own room.

Trivball runs on outside services and public data. We use Cloudflare for hosting. We collect stats from ESPN, TheSportsDB and nflverse and keep our own copy, so a mistake in their numbers can show up in ours. Player photos and team logos still load from them, so when one is down some pictures may be missing. We don’t control those services, they have their own terms, and we can’t promise any of them will keep working.

Historical NFL roster data comes from nflverse, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. We pick, filter and reformat its rows to make game boards, so what you see here is a changed version of that data, not the original files.

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. It may go down, be interrupted or change at any time. As far as the law allows, Trivball and its maker aren’t liable for any loss or damage that comes from your use of the site.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded. If a law where you live gives you a guarantee we’re not allowed to opt out of, that guarantee still applies. In that case, this section only goes as far as the law allows.
