About NBA games
What NBA boards are built from
NBA stat boards start in 1991-92. ESPN’s earlier leaderboards leave out real stars, so a right answer could be missed. Career Path goes back to 1984-85, and Squad Sweep, Stat Pyramid and Degrees of Separation to 1980-81.
Per game boards only rank players who played at least half as many games as the season’s games played leader. You can switch off steals and blocks, but rebounds always stay.
| Games | Seasons |
|---|---|
| Squad Sweep, Stat Pyramid, Degrees of Separation | 1980-81 to 2025-26 |
| Career Path | 1984-85 to 2025-26 |

Stat terms on NBA boards
- Per game:
- a season average. Players need enough games to be ranked.
- PPG / RPG / APG:
- points, rebounds and assists per game.
- Double-double:
- a game with 10 or more in two of points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
Where to start with NBA games
Basketball rewards a good memory for rosters and a good feel for numbers, and these games test both. Some ask who was on a team’s roster. Others hide a leaderboard and see how much of it you can name. Squad Sweep, Leaderboard Rush and Career Path are good places to start, and Stat Pyramid and Heavy Hitters are there when you want more.
Questions about NBA games
- Is there an NBA trivia game I can play with friends?
- Yes. All five party games (Wheelhouse, Trick Play, Sideline Call, Call Your Shot and Bidding War) work on one shared screen, or everyone can join from their own phone with a room code.
- Do the questions repeat?
- Not within one game. Boards are built from the real stats instead of a fixed list of questions, and each new game is a fresh random draw, so repeats are rare.
